Mark 4:29 – But when the grain ripens, immediately he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.”

A good farmer/husbandman will not try to harvest a crop till it is ready. Reaping early will not be beneficial. There will be a crop of no value to the one who harvests.

I know watering and planting are important too. I am simply looking further down the road, where the sowing and watering are well behind the crop that has sprung from that past time. Somewhere down the line, the crop has to be harvested. I’m simply stating that you have to know when.

Here’s the deal. I don’t know how many still attempt this, but I’m sure they are out there. You can’t go cold-knocking on doors. Sure, you can if you like. You just might find someone.

I like to watch the field for the ripe, as this verse speaks of. When I’m drawn to someone, I start a conversation. As the conversation progresses, I will delve deeper until I determine the person’s state. If I sense that a person is ripe for harvest, I will pursue them to that end. I want ripe fruit. I want people I know will fully accept Jesus as their Savior without a doubt. I know many factors are in play. We could use the sowing/watering/reaping analogy and say that everything happens in time. I can do all these things, but I’m looking at the meat of the verse I put up there in this post.

Know that after all the watering and planting, the harvest time is critical to know when the harvest is ripe. Know your crop. Know your people.
