I check my stats occasionally and have noticed a small contingent of readers from China and Hong Kong. I appreciate that you read my posts for whatever reason. I don’t know if that’s good or bad, but you read. Thank you.
Lately, I have been bombarded by various reasons for what people believe. There are so many different takes on Christianity. People have expressed their views on what they consider Biblical truth. Sadly, some make it their life’s work to point out ministers they believe are using Scripture wrongly for personal gain, leading followers down the wrong path. I’ve listened to several Apologists, some of whom make sense and some don’t. I say nothing. I keep it to myself and only speak when asked. It’s not my forte to divide Christ’s followers. I don’t understand why we can’t just stop and read the deep things with understanding.
Let’s consider that the Word of God is so vast that we cannot maintain continuity in our knowledge of Him without keeping what we know and putting on a proverbial shelf what we don’t understand. Surely the puzzle pieces will fall into place. Let’s keep these things in our own hearts to ponder and fellowship with our fellow Christians in the things we have in common knowledge.
Still, Christians make the Gospel of Jesus Christ so complicated. So. Let me boil this down for at least myself, and perhaps you, as a reader of what I write. When I was introduced to the truth that the Rapture was a false doctrine, I was a very upset man. The foundation of my favorite doctrine was uprooted. To make it simple. I was very angry. I could not be wrong. I’d studied it at the feet of men whom I thought knew the Bible. Then, I made it my point to prove the person who introduced me to the falsity of my doctrinal thinking was wrong.
For months, I studied this doctrine. During that time, I also studied for ministry and learned that my method of breaking down Scripture was to go to the original Greek and Hebrew words. I coupled that with learning the culture of the people for whom the Scripture was written. I began to see God in a different light. I eventually came away admitting defeat in my belief system. The Holy Spirit is a great teacher. I found that Jesus will return in like manner as He was seen ascending in the Book of Acts.
Acts 1:11 – Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
I have much more to say about that, but I already posted a thought on it in a previous post. I found that it was widely read. You can find it by searching my blog by title.
However, I want to get back to the center of my thoughts. I’ve found that I don’t care about anything related to knowing about God. I do want to conclude the one most important thing. It’s not about what I want to know about Him. I want to know Him. I don’t care what other people have to say about Him. I want to know Him. I can do that in only one way. Time alone with Him.
Over the last several months, I have finally developed a habit. Well, a habit if you want to call it that. I wake up around four every morning. It is a quiet time. I get up and go to the bathroom. Put in my contacts. Take my pills and brush my teeth. Then I go to my recliner and lean it back. I turn on my fans and let them blow cool air. I pull a heavy blanket over my body and another behind my head. A lot of times, my bonded dog of the four will come and get into my lap and lie down. I’ll cover him with part of the blanket from behind my head. He goes back to sleep.
The time has come. Then I say, “Good morning, Lord. Here I am.” I spend the next period of time telling God how much I love Him and how much He means to me. He has guided my life for 75 years without fail. I have so many things I could share. Some were more pivotal than others. Some were simple things. But He was in it all. I pray that He blesses several people and petitions for His intervention in some of their lives. Some have cancer. Some have loss of family. Some have been blessed in which I also rejoice. Some are still recovering from issues in life that they have had to endure. I then speak to God in my heavenly language (tongues, to some of you who believe). Then I become quiet and await His voice to speak to me. Most times He is gracious enough to speak. There have been times when I have seen a spark of light in the darkness of the room. It lets me know He is present.
Those morning encounters are all I need. They let me know I am right with Him. I put aside all the voices that claim to know this or that. They don’t count. Only what God and I have in those morning meetings together is what counts.
There are many voices out there. To silence them, you need to stop each morning and speak one-on-one with God. I was once told that to know the counterfeit, you have to study and get to know the real thing. My desire is to know the real God of this creation. It has made it easy for me to spot what isn’t of His workings. I appreciate, love, and care to maintain that relationship with God.
Please find time to pray each day. Set aside time with God that you won’t break. Listen to His voice. Your life will be blessed. For those under oppressive governments or other issues, I would ask you to redirect your lives towards God. All else will lose its grip on you. The worldly grip has lost its power over me. Even my present reality has been replaced by the heavenly reality to come and is already becoming.
