About JimR, Chaplain

I'm a 75-year-old guy, in October 2025, who worked in Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune for 28 years and now retired as of 31 Dec 16. I've worked in medical records, the Health Benefits Department, Billing, and the IT department and retired as the Personnel Security Manager for the hospital. I'm a musician and Corvette enthusiast. Yes, I have had two. I traded my second Corvette for a Harley Davidson Fat Boy in mid-summer 2019. Then in 2024, I traded to an HD FreeWheeler FLRT. I've already ridden the new one a thousand miles in 6 weeks. I'm also searching for a fresh new outlook on life with new spiritual insight among other things. I was ordained a minister in 20190202. I've become certified with the American Chaplaincy Association through Aidan University in June '21. Presently, I am a volunteer Chaplain with our county Sheriff's Office. I've found that with the unconditional love of my companion, Libby Rowe life is complete through God. She's a beautiful, vibrant, giving woman who gives her all in everything she puts her mind to do. She and I married on 24 July 2015. She was ordained in February 2022. She has a blog too called Under a Carolina Moon. Give it a visit.

A Rainy Monday

What else can be added to a note with this title.  I personally find it a day to reflect a bit.  My eyes opened this morning around six fifteen with the morning light peering in around the window curtains, and … Continue reading

Your Health, Men

Many times over my life, especially since my mid to late thirties I have taken a tac towards maintaining a healthy respect for my well-being.  We all know the general perspective of men is that they don’t go to the … Continue reading

Serving to Protect

I’m a firm believer of the Gospel.  I firmly believe that God has control of all things.  I do have some thought on the issue of protecting family and self. Over the weekend I heard someone say they didn’t need … Continue reading

People Will Talk

I’ve seen over the past few years that some of my friends on Facebook vent.  I can’t say how long the rant was pent up, so I don’t know how long their fuse is.  Personally, I don’t vent or rant … Continue reading

Lost Possibilities

While watching a documentary called Anne Frank’s Holocaust on the History Channel this morning while sitting wrapped up on the couch one comment cemented itself in my mind.  “The loss of a child is the loss of possibilities”. As many … Continue reading

Dangling Participle

I’m nowhere near the end, although I know some people who would consider me knocking on death’s door. Continue reading

No More Dangling the Carrot

As I begin to type this entry, I have yet to determine a title for it.  So, to start I’ll say this writing came from my dream state last evening. I suppose the dream was influenced by last evening’s musician’s … Continue reading

How Much Is Enough

As many of you know, I describe myself as the eldest son of a poor dirt farmer.  The story of no running water in the house I lived in for the first nine years of my life.  I won’t belabor … Continue reading

Hurricanes?

As I continue to watch the unfolding track of Irma, I’m reminded of the path of Fran in 1996. It wasn’t the path of Irma, but it took aim at Wilmington like a cruise ship coming back to port. What … Continue reading

No Flag For You

I’m thinking this morning about how I retired.  When I was ending my last month or so  of Civil Service, I was asked did I want some sort of ceremony, audience with the CO or a dinner with the department.  … Continue reading
