About JimR, Chaplain

I'm a 75-year-old guy, in October 2025, who worked in Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune for 28 years and now retired as of 31 Dec 16. I've worked in medical records, the Health Benefits Department, Billing, and the IT department and retired as the Personnel Security Manager for the hospital. I'm a musician and Corvette enthusiast. Yes, I have had two. I traded my second Corvette for a Harley Davidson Fat Boy in mid-summer 2019. Then in 2024, I traded to an HD FreeWheeler FLRT. I've already ridden the new one a thousand miles in 6 weeks. I'm also searching for a fresh new outlook on life with new spiritual insight among other things. I was ordained a minister in 20190202. I've become certified with the American Chaplaincy Association through Aidan University in June '21. Presently, I am a volunteer Chaplain with our county Sheriff's Office. I've found that with the unconditional love of my companion, Libby Rowe life is complete through God. She's a beautiful, vibrant, giving woman who gives her all in everything she puts her mind to do. She and I married on 24 July 2015. She was ordained in February 2022. She has a blog too called Under a Carolina Moon. Give it a visit.

Overwhelmed!

Today I realized something. There was a day when I thought when I died I would not have a single soul come to the funeral. Morbid, eh? I felt like I’d lost my last friend during those dark days. One … Continue reading

Life’s Events

I haven’t written much lately. Life has been a challenge when you have to make changes that aren’t necessarily things you want to do. I’ve been separated from my ex for over six years and due to a large amount … Continue reading

Comfortably Numb

Some may recognize the subject title as the name of a song by Pink Floyd. Libby and I were talking last evening about life in general and I said that I had learned to not let things bother me like … Continue reading

Peace Within. . .

I laid down on my bed last night and just soaked in all the new freshness of a completely redone room. It felt so good. I just wish the rest of the house was the same. It will happen. I … Continue reading

To Go or Not To Go, That Is The Question

Today there is snow and ice on the ground. It can be considered a typical February weather event. Still, local folks still don’t seem to have enough of it to gain experience in driving in it nor does our DOT … Continue reading

I’m Home

Walking up from my garage this morning elicited new thoughts. I haven’t moved for 27 years until a month ago. I have known for years the voice of God and also the open door principle. I felt the urging some … Continue reading

My Belief

Christmas is a holiday that for years I have not celebrated. What?? I did a lot of research in history, Biblically and historically. I settled on one fact. If we cannot celebrate His birth everyday, we missed the need for … Continue reading

Gray Hairs in the Sideburns

I’ve had this thought running through my head for quite some time. Gray hairs in the sideburns is a memory that I have from back in my forties. I was at work one day when I got up and wandered … Continue reading

TIME FOR CHANGE

Here’s something people sometimes. . .well most of the time, don’t like. Change. It’s inevitable. Just by virtue of being alive creates change. I guess the real culprit of change is what changes. If it’s a good change, we’re okay … Continue reading

Ramblings of an Uncommon Nature

Thursday morning, 30 Oct 2014. Libby is “singing” in the kitchen. I don’t know if “Whoa, oh, oh, oh counts as such, but it is melodic. Running water in the sink helps, I suppose. I have Fiesta to my left … Continue reading
