About JimR, Chaplain

I'm a 75-year-old guy, in October 2025, who worked in Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune for 28 years and now retired as of 31 Dec 16. I've worked in medical records, the Health Benefits Department, Billing, and the IT department and retired as the Personnel Security Manager for the hospital. I'm a musician and Corvette enthusiast. Yes, I have had two. I traded my second Corvette for a Harley Davidson Fat Boy in mid-summer 2019. Then in 2024, I traded to an HD FreeWheeler FLRT. I've already ridden the new one a thousand miles in 6 weeks. I'm also searching for a fresh new outlook on life with new spiritual insight among other things. I was ordained a minister in 20190202. I've become certified with the American Chaplaincy Association through Aidan University in June '21. Presently, I am a volunteer Chaplain with our county Sheriff's Office. I've found that with the unconditional love of my companion, Libby Rowe life is complete through God. She's a beautiful, vibrant, giving woman who gives her all in everything she puts her mind to do. She and I married on 24 July 2015. She was ordained in February 2022. She has a blog too called Under a Carolina Moon. Give it a visit.

Lay Your Burden Down

I was just sitting down to my computer and I play Christian music 95% of the time and the song by Hillsong “Starts and Ends” began to play and the phrase “Lay your burden down” caught my attention. God knows … Continue reading

God’s Plan = Predestination

Appointment now (beforehand) of your future. It’s a guaranteed action into the future of the believer if they follow after the knowledge of that calling or appointment. It develops hope [the divine guarantee, the confident expectation] to which He has … Continue reading

Grandmother

Someone asked the question as to what one remembers about their grandmother. My dad’s mom and dad lived next to us when I grew up. My granddad died when I was seven and I loved him dearly. But grandmother was … Continue reading

Giving It All To God

Do you feel like the weight of the world is on your shoulders? Unfortunately, I have felt that more often than not. But I’m learning. . .still. I can remember times, places and reasons, when I reached the point I … Continue reading

Father’s Day

This day of recognition was celebrated as far back as one can tell on March 19, starting around 1508. Many nations celebrate fathers at some time or other during the year. The US didn’t really come into full swing with … Continue reading

An Aside

I have not been regularly posting of late. For that I apologize. I should be more giving in what God gives me, but this post is totally off the side. I have been a Corvette aficionado for some twelve years. … Continue reading

Is the Devil to Blame for our Circumstances?

Colossians 3:1-4 – If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For ye … Continue reading

Praise and Worship Services

I recently saw a post about modern day praise and worship services among a lot of churches from small to mega size. Most of what I read was somewhat harsh about the so called the night club style of them. … Continue reading

Paige

I’m sad this afternoon. My first Papillon, Paige passed on this afternoon in my arms. She had been failing for a bit, but last night it took a quick decline. By morning she couldn’t walk. I sat with her most … Continue reading

Salvation

It’s a simple solution to the world. How it came about is a difficult thing. Jesus, the Son of God, had to die. To die a most horrible death. The physical aspects are incomprehensible. Torn to shreds by a cat … Continue reading
